Session 4 - High Tension

Having recuperated for a time, the Edgewatch agents make their way further upstairs in the pagoda. Trailing a kobold scout, they find themselves in a brutal volley with a band of remorseless kobold insurrectionists led by a red-scaled kobold, Battle Leader Rekarek. Defeating the kobolds but unable to uncover the hostages they were seeking, the agents continue out and around the pagoda's veranda and further upstairs.

On the mostly exposed roof, the agents finally find the missing Minkaian laborers, actively held hostage by a gold-scaled kobold mage and the remainder of the Stonescale clan. With blades to throats, the agents act decisively and begin tense negotiations with the kobold dragon mage, Skerix. The negotiating eventually takes a favorable turn, with Skerix agreeing to release the hostages, regretting the more hostile actions of Rekarek and his crew of splinter Stonescale kobolds a floor below. She explains that the Stonescales had a split over what actions to take regarding their labor dispute, with Rekarek favoring violent revolt against the Minkaian delegates of the pagoda's construction project and the workers within. Skerix, on the other hand, held the hostages only as a final resort, releasing them without harm at the first opportunity, in exchange for reparations and a better work contract with the Minkaians.

With the unexpected situation under control, the agents are able to interrogate Ama Uomi, Skerix, and the rescued stonemasons. The end result is the name of an unscrupulous labor broker by the name of Jeremin Hoff, who makes his home in the House of the Planes, a thematic speakeasy that he owns and operates.
