Mallacht's Story

Mallacht has no recollection of his parents and he doesn't much are to know. He assumed a long time ago that they rid themselves of him because of the way he looks and that's reason enough to not bother with looking them. up. The only guardian he has known is Becklan, the brusque gnome artificer who raised him and then became his mentor. Becklan tells him that he adopted Mallacht when he was not yet walking so his earliest memories are of the gnome's modest home and workshop in the Westport district of Northgate.
Even at a young age, Mallacht's superior intellect was easy to see. Becklan hadn't expected he'd not only gain a ward but also a protege when he adopted Mallacht. Even before he reached adolescence, the boy was given to spending all his time side-by-side with Becklan. And by the time he was in his early 20's and the Hordes came, Mallacht's skill level as an artificer armorer was almost Becklan's equal.
Throughout the Wars, Becklan and Mallacht worked in service of Lady Alana Kateri, Lord of Westport, keeping her and her army's officers well-armored. Following the Wars, this business died down but Becklan had gained a certain level of prestige from it. It seemed that the gnome artificer would not want for work so long as Lady Alana ruled over the city.
For while, his benefactor's prestige meant that Mallacht kept very busy with the day to day running of Becklan's workshop. However, after more than a decade of this, Mallacht started to want for more. He wished to chart his own path. And, though he continues to work for Becklan to this day, the time is coming soon when that might change. For his part, Mallacht senses Becklan recognizes this and he's heard the gnome mention more than a few times that it might be prudent to bring on some new apprentices.

Mallacht's Description and Mannerisms

Mallacht is lanky and tall, even without the benefit of the extra three or so inches his horns add to his nearly six and a half foot frame. His horns are slightly lighter in shade than his red skin; almost like a mix of that red with a light grey. His skin tone and horns, along with his tail, charcoal hair, and yellow eyes are all clear indicators of the infernal connection that often draws the sort of attention one wouldn't want. But Mallacht doesn't care what people think. He doesn't hide his features though the notoriety his patron and he have in the city they live in means he probably doesn't need to.
