Reverent Sister Zeinab al-Yatim
Zeinab's Story
Zeinab knows almost nothing about her parents. She knows that one parent was an orc and the other an elf and she suspects that the circumstances that lead to her birth are unpleasant to some level. She also suspects that her elven parent was or is of the Tasserland nobility but she has no real evidence, only her intuition. And that's it. Her earliest memories are of her early childhood living in the temple of the Bright Mother, Marha in the elven capital of Tasser Dale. She was raised as a ward of the church and her earliest memories were pleasant enough. Then, one day, her life changed forever. A high cleric of the church, the Revered Sister from the Bright Mosque in Suzerain, Sephora visited Marha's church in the Dale. The Revered Sister immediately took a liking to young Zeinab, likely because of their common, orc ancestry. She engaged with Zeinab and, before her visit was done, Sister Sephora had decided she would be taking Zeinab with her south to Suzerain. At first, Zeinab wasn't very happy with her change in situation. But Sephora proved an attentive and loving parent and Zeinab grew to love her new home in the Trade City. The ward took to her new surroundings and, as she grew, her devotion to Marha grew as well. By the time she reached her eighth year, Zeinab became an acolyte of the church. However, as she matured, it became clear that Zeinab was destined for something other than a position as keeper of the faith. Her physical gifts were undeniable and Sephora decided she would need to expand her ward's horizons. So she sought training in the martial arts for Zeinab. Also, she began taking Zeinab with her whenever she needed to travel on church business. Zeinab went with her to many strange and fascinating places, far and wide throughout Azocar. After several years of traveling, Zeinab requested her guardian's blessing to seek her own path.Zeinab's Description and Mannerisms
Her more than six and a half foot frame means that Zeinab appears an imposing figure to most when they meet her. Though she usually wears a hijab and veil and almost all of her body is covered, her orcish ancestry is also readily apparent in the grey hue of what little of her skin is visible around her eyes. Another trait she received from her orc parent, the small tusks emanating from her lower jaw, are usually kept hidden. The history of these is subject that's guaranteed to sour her disposition. Zeinab's elvish ancestry manifests itself visibly in two ways. One, her platinum hair, is usually hidden. But the gracefulness of her movement and actions are undeniable. she moves with a grace reminiscent of the most elegant of elven nobles. Even when she is fighting, wiedling her saber as an implement of justice and order, Zeinab's ancestry cannot be denied. Zeinab also has the tendency to remain focused even when those around her get distracted and this has the effect of making her seem overly stern to those who don't know her well. Those that do know Zeinab well however, know her to be generally warm and happy. They also know of her unflinching loyalty for those she cares most about.
