Alnea

Alnea is know for have contraceptive properties. It became highly popular several centuries ago, and thought extinct until recently.
The plant is a close relative to a fennel, and is know for having other properties such as curing certain ailments as well. It has small and blue flowers and small leaves as well growing on the stem, which is long and thin.
The church tried to have the plant extinct despite it having so many other properties, but due to its contraceptive properties the church did not like that childbirth shold be controlled. The church had several person search every herbal garden and other suspected places where it grew, and destroyed them by burning any of the lingering plants. They also issued a law which made possession of the plant illegal, and a hefty fine for anyone discovered with it. Some women hides their Alnea behind other plants, making it less visible.

Some herbalists have been known to make a contraceptive tea from the leaves, making it even harder for the church to discover women using it, unless a woman has not conceived years after a marriage, then suspicion can be arose, and surveillance might even happen.

The flower blooms in springtime, and both the roots, the flower, and leaves are used for medical purposes. It gets around 20 cm high and has a rather sweet sent.
The roots can be used all year around, though the leaves and flowers are often dried for monthly use.

A common myth surrounding this plant is, that there was a woman suffering during her childbirth. She gave birth to a stilborn, and from her grief and wish no longer to experience such a pain, the little plant grew. The plant is supposedly named after the woman.
