Leviathan, The Hydraean
The World Serpent, The Sea King, Lord of All Waters, God of the Sea
Leviathan is the god of Environment, Oceans, Sea-Life, and Water. He is perceived to be the guardian of the seas and many believe that he resides in all seas of the material plane simultaneously, able to appear at any given point bringing wrath upon those who might despoil his realm. If Leviathan perceives his realm to be subject to danger, particularly environmental unbalancing due to overfishing, pollution or other such forces, he will quickly bring his wrath down on any involved in this process. As such most fishers, sailors, pirates and others who have close bonds to the sea are very careful to offer due reverence to The World Serpent, lest he appear and destroy them without further thought.
A colossal serpent, Leviathan can cover huge distances of water with his incredible swimming speed that is almost as if he is flying through the waters. Leviathan is depicted as a long blue serpent, with no limbs but several fins, wings and tails that aid him in both swimming and flight. Leviathan will also very rarely take on the visage of an elderly man in a blue robe to speak with the most devout worshipers, or chosen warriors of light.
Temples devoted to Leviathan often tend to be found in harbours of major cities, and his clergy are often involved in maritime activities. However, in lands where water is considered in scarcity, offerings might also be made to the Lord of All Waters to bring his might inland. It is common amongst some folk to believe that rivers and such are formed when Leviathan is summoned in-land and makes his way back out to sea, carving the land as he moves.
