Ramuh, The Fulgurian

(a.k.a. God of Storms, Father of Magic, Indra, The Elder Justicar)

Ramuh is the Chaotic Good God of the Elderly, Knowledge, Lightning, Magic and Storms. His appearance and depiction is almost always that of a wisened, elderly Elvaan or near-Elvaan man with a great beard and flowing robes and his entry into the mortal world is always both preceded with and ended by thunderous lightning bolts. He is thought to offer council and aid in times of great crisis to his mortal followers, giving advice, council or insight into matters of great import.   Whilst Minerva is the essence of magic and mana itself as the product of the aetheric mists, Ramuh is thought to have been the deity whom gifted mortals first with the knowledge to harness magic. As such, his worshippers are often gifted mages. Beyond this, Ramuh, unlike perhaps some of the more dispassionate or distant elemental deities of the Aetheric Tradition has a somewhat paternalistic relationship with mortals, yet this paternalism is never quite hand-holding. Ramuh wishes his children to be independent and whilst he does offer insight, he also is firm to leave his followers to enact their own true desires in relation to his judgement. Many myths speak then about how Ramuh did not only offer knowledge of the practice of magic to mortals, but also imbued them with free will.

Tenets of Faith

To "know" bestows both responsibility and freedom and this is the burden of all mortal being. The freedom to choose is simultaneously the doom to freedom. Each mortal must find their way through this condition of freedom: Such, is life itself.
