The Creation Myth
In The beginning there was naught but the aetheric mists which swirled in an endless timeless expanse. Yet, out of these mists were birthed two forms diametrically opposed from the very moment of their creation: two beings who, in unison, represented together all that was, is, and could be. From their inception, they were bifurcated through the mists. These two beings were Hydaelyn and Zodiark.
Hydaelyn was the embodiment of light, life, creation and order, where Zodiark was the essence of destruction, darkness, death and chaos. The two existed in continual conflict, yet neither was able to ever achieve dominance over the other. The opposition was absolute, but their being borne of two halves of the same whole meant that their force was equally matched. This endless conflict, however, through the mixing of their diametrically-opposed energies would give rise to other forms out of the mists: the first of the other gods, who in turn would begin to form the stars, the planets, the lands, mountains, rivers and peoples. From this endless cycle of conflict then, when neither side could truly defeat the other, was a world so carefully formed through this balance: Agoria.
Many different races might claim to have been the first to walk the lands of Agoria during the Age of Dreams, or have been favoured or personally created by this or that goddess when the world was still in its most primeval form. All of these claims could have merit only in so far as they are all ultimately utterly unverifiable. The Aetheric Tradition however, has perhaps the most dominant of interpretations of the state of the deities during the Age of Dreams, finding versions of itself across most of Agoria, which describes the important link between Zodiark, Hydaelyn and the formation of the cosmos as it is known today.
Within the Aetheric Tradition, it is understood that the conflict between Hydaelyn and Zodiark produced a third being of equal power to both which would lead to the ability for the aetheric mists to take on more permanent physical form in the cosmos. That being would be known as Minerva who represented and embodied the precarious balance between Hydaelyn and Zodiark, taking on (initially) the portfolio of balance, time and space. It was the creation of this third being which facilitated enough stability in the cosmos to allow the creation of what we call "reality".
