Grover Hortensius

This affluent wizard owns a country home off the coast of Ornity, near the mudlarks. Hortensius is unusually focused on necromancy, and even though most of his job is protecting Ornity from the kind of magic he studies, his volatile work is kept far away from civilization. Because of this, he does all his work from the villa.   Hortensius is rather powerful and clearly wants a more central position in the war. He used to conduct negotiations with the Stakes, which mostly consisted of saying "no" to various pleas for leniency, but he fell off the map quick after passing the spotlight to Fulgure. He's known for his dragging monotone soaked in childish contempt, which he can't wait to wield against the enemy once again.   Normally Hortensius has friends over at least once a week, but a misguided spell populated his home with a new sort of company. He summoned a band of devils to Agrophon, promising that they'd be paid to defend Ornity from demons and the Stakes. But they couldn't reach an agreement with the Duumvirate (who, understandably, didn't want to be associated with creatures of absolute tyranny), and Grover couldn't spare enough money to pay them himself. The devils have taken up residence in the villa until they can be paid for their work, by Hortensius or someone else.   Developments - Act I
Hortensius has been looking for a necromantic solution to the threat of Mass Resurrection.   He's also been using his powers to extend Everett Fulgure's lifespan.
