The Duumvirate War
As the story goes, the Duumvirate is outrageously angry, and believes that only they deserve to be angry. They laugh away the grievances of everyone around them. They're driven to violence by a burning hunger. But when asked who "they" are, most people in the Stakes don't have a clear answer. Occasionally someone breaks through the front lines of the war and sets foot into Ornity, where they discover the Duumvirate's secret: their war is very unpopular.

Belligerents
Strength
They have overwhelming numbers and total control over air and sea. Only land-based bottlenecks can slow them down. At their current pace, they'll burn through their resources in just a few years, and are planning on a swift victory.
Casualties
The Duumvirate hasn't taken any serious structural damage, but its people have suffered massive losses. Communities near the front line have been decimated, but the higher chain of command is yet unscathed.
Objectives
They plan to conquer various eastern territories for as long as their momentum lasts. Their eventual goal is to put every major network in Agrophon--be it trade, science, communication, or manufacturing--under their flag. They hope to install a handful of governors in every city on the continent, and dissolve any system which can't accept the change.
The Stakes
Led by
Strength
They have a decent army and excellent defensive structures, mostly controlled by Ossifrey. Magic users from across the continent lend support in various ways.
Casualties
They've suffered even more casualties than the Duumvirate. Innocents and soldiers are lost at the same rate. The Mass Resurrections provide only partial and temporary relief.
Objectives
The Duumvirate's conquests are devastating their way of life. They hope to break down the invading soldiers, recapture all the land south of the bottleneck in Aevaly, and leave a deep enough wound in Ornity's power that they can't mount another attack for decades. Eventually they'd like to recover their economic and cultural footing in Agrophon.
The Tail
Led by
Strength
They have a small supplementary force, and the soldiers they're hurriedly recruiting are often inexperienced. They have a lot of resources, and are gradually convinced to bring support to the Stakes.
Casualties
They've suffered only occasional attacks, when the Duumvirate takes shortcuts across the sea or strikes at the supply lines. But each attack has had a significant toll, especially near the coast.
Objectives
They're hurrying to establish a line of support to The Stakes, but they're too displaced from the conflict to be officially at war. They hope to defuse the land invasion, mend their severed lines of travel and communication, and maintain the ideals and long-term prosperity of Agrophon.
