General Physical Condition

Amarella is a small woman, of slender build, who appears to be in her late 20s.

Body Features

Along her right arm, Amarella spots an agglomeration of tattoos, some of which are crudely drawn, while others show far more intricacy.

Facial Features

Amarella has a slender face, with nose to match. Her large eyes betray a vast intelligence within.

Identifying Characteristics

Amarellas mess of blonde hair is her most striking characteristic. It stubbornly refuses to be maintained, despite her best efforts.

Apparel & Accessories

Over a pair of well-worn adventuring clothes, Amareall wears a chain shirt, which looks more like a collection of small metal pieces that have been strung together. She carries with her a large square shield that tapers to a point on the bottom.

Specialized Equipment

Slung around her shoulder and resting on her hip, Amarella carries a satchel. Though the main compartment functions much like any other bag, what is striking about this accoutrement is the numerous tools hanging from different straps sewn into the satchel.

Personal history

Amarella started off a simple student of the arcane at the prestigious Krinalworth academy. Gifted with a bright mind, she quickly grasped the basic concepts of magic. Her teaches lauded her for this feat, but she did not share in their sentiment. The arcane was, to put it mildly, boring. With much time to herself after lectures, she wandered the halls of the academy mindlessly. On one such roundabout, she stumbled across the janitor's workshop. There she met Trippin Hupknuckle, her to-be mentor and friend. Though not especially gifted in the arcane, Trippin had a mind for machines rivaled by none. Under his guidance, she quickly developed a love for combining machine and magic together, two chaotic forces that when crammed, hammered, beaten, dropped and hammered again, would make something wonderous - provided it worked of course. But Amarella didn’t settle for clockwork birds with rotating sprockets. She was drawn to bigger things, louder things, those of the boom-boom variety. Her eccentricities soon earned her an unfavourable reputation amongst the rest of the academy that once held her in esteem. They were thus only too happy to agree to a sabbatical she requested which would see her sent down to a faraway port town to research cannons and other large artillery.      Of course, had she never taken that sabbatical, she would not have been kidnapped by a crew of kobold sea pirates. But alas, these things happen and so it ended up that Amarella was taken aboard their ship. Though the original intention was to sell her as cargo, Amarella didn’t let a little captivity keep her from her favourite pursuit: explosions. Managing to break free one night, instead of making an attempt to flee the ship, Amarella started tinkering around with the cannons before letting off a powerful shot, hitting the mast of a nearby pirate ship. While the kobolds contemplated if they should still sell her, kill her, or drop her off in the sky-sea somewhere, they noticed the improvements to their cannons. Now, 5 years later, Amarella is a somewhat reluctant member of the kobold crew. Though she doesn’t approve of the kobolds use of violence, or their life choices in general, she looks forward to the times she gets to spend working on the cannons. Even if this is done while trudging around a weighted chain to the ankle.

Mental Trauma

Amarella never fully accepted the pirate life. She regrets the help she gave to her kobold crew and the loss of innocent life they wrought with her tools. This thought often gives her nightmares.

Amarella has a brilliant mind. She is, however, far more interested in using her fingers to create, rather than to turn pages. She is often found working on the next big experiment – or being chastised for the damage caused by the last.

Amarella constantly weighs the cost of her actions in creating devices of firepower with increased magnitude against the loss of life that these devices cause in the wrong hands.

Motivation

Amarella is not motivated by a higher power or a need to better the world. Her only interest, as it has always been, is to find out which combination of metals, chemicals, and arcane incantations make the biggest boom.

Skilled in the amalgamation of machine and magic, Amarella is competent at making magical items. By the same token, however, she is not afraid to tinker with said magical items, in an attempt to push them to their upper limits, even if this results in the experiment blowing up.

Chains make Amarella nervous. She will do whatever is necessary to avoid being chained up again.

Personality Quirks

Amarella treats other people as lab assistants. Though she would never intentionally endanger someone's life with one of her experiments, she assumes all people understand – and consent to the loss of hair, minor limbs and, temporary, sight - that progress only comes with a few broken eggs.

Amarella usually keeps to herself. Not because she has an aversion to other people, but rather because it’s generally safer for them if they're in the next room. When engaged, however, she is bright and happy to converse, especially if the conversation is of a technical nature.

Mannerisms

When conversing, Amarella is emotive, using her hands to express herself. When not directly engaged, however, Amarella’s attention often drifts off as she begins contemplating any number of projects she currently has swimming around her head.

Speech

Though Amarella grew up with aristocracy, the condition of her speech has since deteriorated owing to her time with the kobolds. Crude words proliferate her vocabulary as often as pronouns, and she frequently slips into draconic when her mind wanders.
