Bluelake district

Formerly known as Blacklake district, and in either case named for the large lake at the centre of the district. The lake was already polluted when the Spellplague happened, but that, and eruption of Mount Hothenow caused it to turn almost black - hence the name. Several druids and local enthusiasts, encouraged by Lord Neverember , have slowly but surely been cleaning up the lake. As a token for the efforts, the lake, and district, have formally changed name.   Bluelake used to be an area for the wealthier middle class and some of the upper class. However, the cracks in the earth letting out fumes and flame during Mount Hothenow's eruption, severely damaged large parts of it. It was also barely able to hold the orc invasion through the Tower District at bay. While there were enough wealthy people left to pay for repairs of the worst of the damages, the most elite moved to Protector's Enclave and the areas less touched by the catastrophies. When Lord Neverember started to take over, he heavily taxed the wealthy in order to pay for the costly rebuilding of Neverwinter. Many of those lived in Bluelake and many of them had already used their own fortunes to rebuild that part of the city, and so they weren't exactly happy with the arrangement. This is why the Nashers found an easy foothold here and used it as their base of operations.   These days, Bluelake is slowly returning to a middle class area, though small areas are distinctly more rough. And almost none of the true elite of Neverwinter live here anymore.
