Elder Wyrms

The Primordials created the first Elder Wyms to serve specific functions within the wider purposes of the dragons. Each of the original elder wyrms was created by a pair of primordials. One would fashion an egg, the other would infuse it with the divine power of their breath. The first ten were intended to undertake functions in the governance and administration of Ladon. A second group of five elders were created with the intention of helping the Primordial Dragons to understand themselves.
The elder wyrms able to reproduce parthenogenically to create lesser versions of themselves to aid them, creating fifteen cadres of dragons of different colours. The natures of the ten and five have been remembered long after their deaths in the chromatic, metallic and geodic clades of the dragonborn.

The Ten

• Goroch the Red - Egg of Arabast, breath of Malcidis; created to lead the Ladonic civilisation.
• Ysvir the Gold- Egg of Hroun, breath of Arabast; adviser and counterpart, intended to complement and balance Goroch.
• Oreath the Silver - Egg of Arabast, breath of Ramad; the philosopher.
• Ulean the Blue - Egg of Tropos, breath of Arabast; the enforcer.
• Torath the Bronze - Egg of Hroun, breath of Tropos; the warrior.
• Qestor the Green - Egg of Lacaga, breath of Ramad; the investigator.
• Ymorah the Copper - Egg of Lacaga, breath of Hroun; the trickster.
• Ystor the Black - Egg of Malcidis, breath of Lacaga; the lore keeper.
• Aspiris the Brass - Egg of Hroun, breath of Malcidis; the herald.
• Jalaen the White - Egg of Ramnad, breath of Hroun; the healer.

The Five

• Lasthalian, Amethyst-Scaled - Egg of Malcidis, breath of Tropos; soothsayer and cosmologist.
• Cossorias, Crystal-Scaled - Egg of Tropos, breath of Lacaga; preserver and spiritual guide.
• Elephabay, Emerald-Scaled - Egg of Ramad, breath of Malcidis; first master of the dragonsong.
• Rantasca, Sapphire-Scaled - Egg of Tropos, breath of Ramad; soldier and strategist.
• Calmortivia, Topaz-Scaled - Egg of Arabast, breath of Lacaga; thanatologist and stoic.

The elder worms were entirely physical beings, their forms the prototype for what is now recognised as a dragon but still much, much larger than even the oldest living dragons. While they lacked divinity, they had the power to create offspring. Legends put the number of second generation elder wyrms at anywhere between thirty-six and forty-eight.
Elder Wyrms of the second generation were lesser versions of their parent, with the same scale colour and the same temperament and purpose. They were not capable of the same parthenogenic reproduction as their parents, but at the beginning of the Colossus War, they were granted the ability to produce offspring via a rite performed by two (or occasionally more) dragons.
The first dragon born of this rite was Orthos the Bounded, the most consequential being in Aiaosian history.
