Yelmsgrad

Yelmsgrad is a small mining town at the base of the sheer, south-east flank of Mount Aelian, built to work the diamond deposits within the mountain. The Yelmsgrad mine is also a source of adamantine ore, making it one of the most valuable assets in the Republic.
The town lies on the banks of the River Aelian, at the foot of the Paragon Falls, a powerful cascade that plunges from the cliffs five hundred feet above. The mines lie on the north bank of the river, within a walled compound enclosing storehouses, workshops, dormitories for the gaardiri workforce and the climbing mill, a watermill which clings to the cliffs alongside the falls, drawing power from the force of the cascade to run the machinery of the mine. Lower class housing and businesses extend along the northern bank, while richer housing and most of the osvarir population occupy the south bank. There are no significant prestige businesses, given the proximity to Osvar.
