The Kingdom of Gafaldas
A hardscrabble and poor kingdom of mountain men and river lords. Its peoples eke out a living in the hills and at the foot of mountains as shepherds or farmers or live in the many towns along the rivers Mata and Gala.
Structure
The king is theoretically in charge of the kingdom, but in reality is more like "the first among equals" who guides the various River Lords activities in the interest of foreign relation and defense.
The River Lords are a series of Lords, Mayors, and Elders who rule the various towns and villages along the rivers that run through Gafaldas. They wield considerable power and follow the king more as the leader of a loose confederation rather than an absolute monarch as is the case in other kingdoms.
History
Gafaldas has one singular claim to fame. Its entirely mundane army curshed a mage-led Pallisian force following the collapse of the Draviccian Empire. Through sheer tenacity and expert skirmishing the hillmen of Gafaldas defeated the elite and highly magical army of Pallis.
Religion
The Gafaldans follow a regional yet still sanctioned version of the Iadic Church.
