Hall of Smoke and Mirrors

Spooktober Prompt: Mirror
The Hall of Smoke and Mirrors is a complicated place both to navigate and to describe. The liminality of both the space and anyone who should attempt to occupy it is often disorienting; covered in mirrors ranging from full-length to as small as a coin in elaborate mosaic patterns, they don't always reflect what's directly in front of them. Some show people as they appear to be, while others show them as they are. Seemingly long hallways can abruptly end mid-step, transforming into rooms and locations of all sorts, often places of indulgence, from burlesque halls to shisha parlors to casinos lit up with flashing neon lights.
The largest and grandest room appears much like a tent, embroidered silks draped over massive quartz crystal points serving as support poles. Performances within the three-ring circus never seem to end, filled with archons performing superhuman feats of strength and agility. Contrasting the extravagance of the rest of the big top, the stands for fans are simple in design, prone to creaking, and made of wood worn smooth by use.
