Lammasu
The Lammasu is a large winged lion with thick, dark, usually braided mane, but with a human face, colorful feathered wings, similar to Sphynxes, and are similarly intelligent. They inhabit desolate places, typically ruins, or other crafted lonely structures rther than natural caves or fissures. They prefer warm climates whether deserts, or humid jungles, and serve their own purposes. When they take up a cause or pursuit it is usually for a greater good, and have been known to enlist the aid of deities, fey and other beings.
Lammasu are wise, thoughtful, and observant, and will take great pains to help those in need, especially toward those that share the Lammasu's predilection to law, or goodness. Lammasu's are believed to be immortal, and have shown the gift of prophecy. Sometimes their inquisitive nature will draw out long talks, or conversations.
More to tell, but I'm not telling yet.
