Long sword
The longsword has many names in the English language, which, aside from variant spellings, include terms such as Arming Sword, Knight Sword, Viking Sword and more; however, for the purposes of gaming, and this campaign rules set: Longsword refers to a Straight-edged, double-bladed, one-handed, cross hilt sword with a blade length from 28 to up to 43 inches. 35 inch blades are most common for Human wielders. Longsword are most effective with shields and allow flexibility in Cutting, or Thrusting attacks.
In game terms the Longsword differs from the Broadsword by having a tapered blade to a point from a pronounced fuller running 2/3's of the blade, and the Broadsword having a more elaborate hilt.
Whereas a Bastard Sword has a longer Grip allowing versatility of one-handed use, or Two-Handed swings.
The Arming Sword differs in having a straight blade with no taper after the fuller, coming to a chisel tip, and as such is more suited to cutting motion attacks.
