Eladrin Marriage Traditions

Unlike the traditional kneeling proposal, along with a ring, which is done by many societies in the Material Plane, the Eladrin of Feywild have a differing tradition. Rather than kneeling, an Eladrin male (or female if there are two women in the relationship) will take their partner to a place of powerful or prominent magic, and present their partner with a circular necklace, with a hole cut from its centre. The necklace's chain is often made from Ithylium, a type of metal that can act as an arcane conduit, with similar properties to silver, as well as a precious stone that can also be used as a magical conduit.    Beforehand, the necklace is imbued with a special type of bonding magic, which is taught to all Eladrin, and an identical necklace, which is the necklace presented to the partner, is placed around the partner's neck. If the partner is accepting of the proposal, they cast the exact same bonding spell, connecting the two via the necklaces.    When finally prepared to be married, the two to be married give their necklaces to their chosen guardians for a fortnight, who will later walk down the aisle with each of the to be weds, followed by their closest friends in a single file line. In that time, the to be weds spend time apart, enjoying the last of their time as single people, while the guardians have the necklaces mounted with additional Ithylium detailing, which is then enchanted by the guardian, symbolising their blessing of the marriage.
