Megrez, or "Rhea Lee" in civilian guise, is the Genesic Ovamancer responsible for a new generation of magical beings. She is the one who chooses and awakens people as Ovamancers, granting them the EGGs (Essential Guise Generators) that give them their powers. Though she trains and mentors her Ovamancer "classes," her motives extend far beyond giving another world a means to protect itself with.

The Beginning

"Rhea Lee" was born as Luca Krantz on a modern world that was afflicted by periodic plagues of monsters. At the age of 16, she was awoken as a Cosmonarch, a magical person with a connection to a celestial "outpost" somewhere in space. This is when she gained the Megrez alias. She spent her early days defeating monsters around her city and periodically squaring off the with the people who controlled them, the Chaonites. However, her awakening coincided with a surge in violence between Cosmonarchs and Chaonites. Under questionable mentorship, Megrez was lead to kill three Chaonites on her own, events that shattered and traumatized her ever afterward.
Years passed, with Megrez and her friends working hard to combat the Chaonite menace. She took a small hiatus for college and a general burnout/dissatisfaction with the "Cosmo Life," but she could not have anticipated what would happen when she returned.
A peaceful gathering of Cosmonarchs enjoying each other's company became a tragedy as several powerful Chaonite generals and a host of monsters descended upon the group, with full intent to kill, capture, or convert as many Cosmonarchs as they could. Megrez fought hard, but ultimately, she witnessed the death of at least a third of the Cosmonarchs there, including her girlfriend and her protege. Out of despair, she demanded death, and she got it. She died with everyone else.
...Except she didn't. Something happened. Something out there in space reached out and placed a piece of itself in her, bringing her back to life and allowing her to continue with new purpose. There is something poignant about waking up in a small pile of dead bodies, almost on top of your dead girlfriend, and unleashing all your grief, terror, and confusion in one piercing scream.

Genesis of the Ovamancers

Shattered with grief, Megrez lost faith in her world. Her revival had bestowed a new magical form on her and modified her powers in curious ways. Deeming her world beyond redemption and salvation, she left it all behind with her new abilities and constructed a hideout for herself: the Egg Citadel. While she spent a long time in isolation trying to cope with her broken soul, she was approached by a strange dog-like creature who offered to keep her company. This dog creature had some ability with magic manipulation, and he agreed to help Megrez channel her new powers into structures and experiment with their new functions. Her collaboration with this creature lead to the first EGG device, and further investigation gave Megrez an idea of what she could do with it.
