Heimstré - The World Tree

Heimstré, also known as The Fey Tree, The World Tree, or The Tree of Magic is the main source of all magic within Akeroth.

Heimstré is a massive yew tree, believed to be the center of the known cosmos. Each of the Eleven Realms exists among the tree's branches and roots, with the tree itself existing in every Realm.
Within each realm, the tree has multiple utilities. Collecting dew from its branches (which can be found near bodies of water) is said to provide permanent boosts of power. Additionally, crystallized sap is a powerful source of magic that can wound even the strongest foe.
By using the tree itself, it is said that one can enter the Astral Realm and walk along the World Tree's branches to more quickly reach other realms. Should one stray from the branch's path, they will be erased from being unless they have proper protection, such as the Arcane Stone.

History

As Heimstré is said to transcend time and space, there can be no origin ascribed to it.
When the Draconic War waged on it is said that Elven Shamans hid all pathways within the tree to prevent anyone from any realm from retreating to the Feywild but with the burning and resurrection of Heimstré it is unknown whether these pathways have since returned.
According to prophecy, when the first leaf burns, it is the beginning of the end and the return of the Gods is imminent. Should the Gods claim the Tree once more, they will freely meddle with the affairs of mortals and forever remove free will from the people of Akeroth. Warriors shall rise, however, sending the gods back to their realm and keeping them in their place for the known future of Akeroth.
