Ivian - Goddess of the Shadows

Ivian is the Minor Goddess of Shadows & the Underworld. She presides over the bitterness, envy, and eventual acceptance of those who suffer misfortune. Her hoarding of both souls and the treasures the dead carry into the Underworld see her worshiped by those who desire to collect and keep wealth. Ivian’s very presence is stifling, and those who come face to face with her often depart in despair. She is jealous and tyrannical within her realm, but unlike her brother Emdros, she neither blusters nor tries to expand her influence. She waits patiently, secure in the knowledge that everything belongs to her in the end.

Personal history

Ivian was born in the underworld unlike other Gods. From a young age, Ivian was drawn to the dark and malevolent aspects of the world, often using her powers to terrorize and harm those around her.
As she grew older, Ivian became more and more powerful, using her mastery of shadow magic to manipulate and control those around her. She relished in causing fear and suffering, and became known as a ruthless and cruel goddess.
Despite her evil nature, Ivian's powers were so great that she was often called upon by the other gods and goddesses to aid them in their battles and quests. She would grudgingly agree, but always demanded a high price for her services, often causing more harm than good.
Over time, Ivian's thirst for power and control grew, and she became determined to rule over the underworld and all of its inhabitants. She waged war against the other gods and goddesses, using her dark powers to strike fear into the hearts of all who opposed her.
In the end, Ivian was ultimately defeated by the combined forces of the other gods and goddesses, and was cast out of the pantheon. She now lurks in the shadows, cursed by Sifor to forever aid those seeking Ekadell as it's protector and guardian. She quietly waits, plotting her revenge and waiting for the day when she can once again rise to power and bring down Adaphae.

Ivian wants above all to maintain her position of absolute authority over the realm of the dead. She lashes out at anyone who aids souls in escaping from her or otherwise tries to subvert the inevitability of death.
Ivian is patient, usually willing to wait for souls to come to her, but she does interfere in the mortal realm on occasion. When the other gods displease her, she sends mortal agents or Hellborn monsters to kill the worshipers of the offending gods and spread despair.
Many of Ivian’s schemes target those who escape her clutches. She regularly sends agents to retrieve the Returned soul or the wayward eidolon of a hero of great renown who has succeeded in returning to Akeroth. If any of the dead, renowned or otherwise, escape the Underworld fully intact—without identities erased—Ivian will spare nothing to make an example of the fugitive and any who provided assistance.
