The Elder Stones are ancient relics blessed to Akeroth by the Ancient Dragons of the Old Religion. Each Stone was granted a fraction of a Dragon's power and given to a race within Akeroth. Each race was bestowed with a different stone as a gift, in an attempt to bond with their creations.

There is also said to be a 6th stone, lost to the sands of time the Elder Stone of Shadows, created by Ar-Seid himself was handed down to a single soul within Akeroth, before his own imprisonment in the Dark Below, someone known as The Last Dragonlord.

The Elven Stone'. This stone showed peace and prosperity in the Feywild, keeping the Elves in their home but, this was not without its own challenges. As with any source of power, there were those who sought to claim it as their own. In his attempt to wash this power away.
Norag, causing The Shattering, broke the stone into 4 pieces. Each
Elven Shard was claimed by a member of the Realm, these scavengers rose to power and became royalty.
It is said that the Fey Lords were born from the Stone's power and he who claims the runes will call the shards to him, and once all 9 runes are claimed once more shall the Elven Stone be whole again.
