Session Two: Interview with Definitely NOT a Vampire
General Summary
The party woke up in farmer Bob's cabin and decided to go get breakfast at the local tavern. They were having a special on cockatrice stew. While there they met up with the very rare dwarf, Mikant Izichi along with two new adventurers who wanted to join the party, a halfling bard named Cammie and a centaur monk who I can't seem to remember his name.
With the band all back together again.. well besides Hairy Pothead who died.. they knew all they have to do is traverse the westward path through the Thicket to get to the campsite that was the last known location of the the scouting party. They apparently decided that was too easy and wanted to go the long way around. They decided to travel north instead.
They wanted to go north to Knightfrost and then west to Brittlepeak to get a straight shot to the campsite. As they get about halfway to Knightfrost, they reached the fork where the road splits to Angelborn. The are jumped by 5 bandits. The party made quick work of the bandits. The lead bandit smokes the centaur with a Guiding Bolt. As the party is in the middle of killing these innocent bandits, the party heard a cry for help coming from behind the bandits. All of a sudden this becomes personal.
They killed all the bandits and discover that the screams were coming from an innocent Eastern adult human female dressed in a long white gown is tied up. A very obvious damsel in distress. The party isn't quite sure about this female, but are pretty quick to save and trust her.
They asked her a bunch of questions and she tells them that her name is Xie and she is from the kingdom of Soksu. She left that continent to start a new life and was hoping to explore the Sundom and become a traveling merchant. She underestimated how dangerous it was. The party decided that she can pal around with them and then head north Knightfrost even though she was trying to go south to Meletis.
They make it to Knightfrost and go straight to the local tavern, the Sleeping Unicorn. They find a quest from Two-Face Bruno to deliver a package to the Valuable Hazelnut in Lysnora in order to get 60gp. This actually happens almost without a hitch. They strap the package to the back of the centaur. The package was an ornate chest and these fuckers didn't even think about peaking inside! They were getting 60gp for this mission and the contents of this chest could have been worth infinitely more. These are adventurers you can trust!
They leave Knightfrost and leave Xie up in the Sleeping Unicorn. They travel throughout the night and make it to Lysnora at 3am, just before sunrise. The large emerald gates are closed during the night. Scary Brandon knocks on the door and finds out the hard way that the gates are trapped and not to be tampered with. The party then uses this time to take a long rest just outside the city. Brandon wakes up after 4 hours and wants to expedite the process by creating a smoke fire outside of the gates to get their attention and to open the gates early. He gathers all the brush he could find and lights a nice big fire just outside of the gates. He looks up and sees that the gates are already open. They have been since sunup. Two high elf guards stare at Brandon in disbelief. Disbelief at how stupid a wood elf could be. Brandon then helps his cause by pissing all over the fire to put it out. One of the guards says a snide remark about the nature of wood elves so Ricky and Brandon start peacocking up on this guard. The other guard pulls his buddy back and the party is allowed admittance to Lysnora.
They bee-line toward the Valuable Hazelnut and successfully drop off the package. Ricky takes a quick detour and asks about the Staff of the Woodland. He finds out that there was a young Eastern woman inquiring about the worth of said staff. The description matched Xie and he leaves the city and meets with his companions.
They all make their way back to Knightfrost and halfway home they get attacked by a flock of blood hawks. One of the hawks has a white feather on it from the wing of a high elf tied to his talon. That pisses off Ricky again. But luckily, they don't go back and continue heading toward Knightfrost.
As they get there, Ricky tries to find Xie but she has left. Rumor has it she went south to go to Meletis and hired two adventurers to protect her. Ricky runs after her to catch her trail. The rest of the party retrieve their payment for the quick delivery quest.
Ricky goes south to locate Xie while the rest of the part goes west to Wolfspire. When they make it to Wolfspire, they are told that outsiders cannot be in the city when the sun sets. The party found this odd and when they ask why, the barkeep simply says it is for the protection of the residents of this city. They also find out that this city used to breed dire wolves. They no longer do as the breeders moved to Houndrock to continue their breeding. Lastly, they hear that Brittlepeak is overrun by spiders. The party decides that that is not something they want to fuck with at the time... surprisingly.
So, the party continues their way through the woods and eventually emerge at the campsite they have been trying to get to for over 2 sessions.
Ricky hobbles down the path heading toward Meletis when he comes across two dead bodies. Upon inspection, Ricky finds that they have bite marks on them and all of their blood is gone. They have been exsanguinated. "That bitch is a fucking vampire!" Ricky exclaims. So he then proceeds to look for her. He finds her hiding behind a tree not too far along the path. Covered in blood. She tells Ricky that she didn't mean to do what she did and that she thought she could control it. She was wrong.
Ricky calms and asks her where to find the Staff of the Woodland. She says she knows exactly where it is, in a temple on her home continent. Ricky says he will protect her if she takes him to it right away. She agrees, but has no idea how to get back. Ricky almost retires his character here, but then decides to put his personal ambitions on hold to help the party out. He convinces Xie to tag along with the party and they will protect her... what could go wrong here?
So, Ricky and Xie make their way back to meet up with the rest of the party and they meet them conveniently at campsite right as they are walking up to it.
