World Calendar

The Country of Akun has a changing calendar that has been decided by those with power. The static pieces are as follows. The first eight months are given to the gods. Each week is eight days in length to give respect to the gods. After this point, each era is awarded a month in respect to the ruling power. The original Storm Era was acknowledged by the following swordsage. The bloodied grip was acknowledged by the long standing bloodline. As the bloodline suffered a reformation partway through their dynasty, they chose to acknowledge a second month dedicated to their own family. Finally, the newest to lead has placed a month in honor of the hopes of the future to lead the country to healing and growth. Every change of the calendar with the rise of a new era has caused historians to cry out from across the lands as scholars, teachers, and enthusiasists bemoan recalculating history each time. Though magic allows for the computation to be easier, the frustration of changing times is never easy for any individual. During the first roughly eight generations of an era, a special role of Star Keeper is appointed across the country & city-states to help facilitate, guide, and interpret the issues of a new calendar format. Some common examples is readjusting the ages of the citizens and creating grandfather clauses for the calendar changes.

The calendar has 520 days currently separated into 13 months of 5 weeks with 8 days each. The Gods seem to adjust the cycle of the world when a new month/era is established and leaves their mark onto the calendar system. Where history would say that each era or their following would name the newest month, it seems that the name comes from the mind of Buren. A less common but impactful role, the God of Paradise carries the duty of Namesaker.

There are five seasons each year, a somewhat immutable fact. Below they are listed in order:

  1. Spring
  2. Summer
  3. Autumn
  4. Fall
  5. Winter
