The Crest

Whoever Purmua chooses to be the Crest will transcend a basic human form. During meditation intervals, the Crest's skin will harden and become rock like. She will also develop her own self-contained gravitational field which will cause small objects to orbit her as well as create small rings made from dust and other particles. It is imperative that she be left undisturbed so she can obtain as many orders from Purmua as possible.

Requirements

The only prerequisite to being the Crest is that the person in question must identify as a woman because Purmua will never choose a man to fill the role.

Appointment

The ritual one must undergo to become the Crest is simple. There is a massive pit below the floating land mass in the eastern hemisphere. The candidate in question must jump into said pit. If the candidate is chosen by Purmua, the candidate will reemerge. This ritual can only be successfully performed once every century.

Duties

The Crest is tasked with syncing her consciousness with Purmua in order to distribute divine order from the Mother herself. More often than not, the decrees of Purmua seem absurd or trivial but the Crest reassures everyone that the orders work to an important goal.

Responsibilities

The Crest must stay in a perpetual meditative state in 9 day intervals. The Crest receives a 1 day break between each interval to interact with world but then must return to meditation. Her time spent in the 1 day break is usually spent delivering Purmua's order and also indulging in humanly pleasures such as eating or reading.

Benefits

The Crest recieves an extra 100 years of life despite how old the candidate was at the time of initiation.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

If the Crest were to lie about or distribute false orders from Purmua, or perform actions veiwed as atrocious in the eyes of Purmua, the Crest's body will slowly turn into sand. The execution process lasts for about 2 days.

History

In the early 1800's, a massive chunk of the Earth in the eastern hemisphere rose from the ground. The pit from which the chunk surfaced is vital in the choosing of the Crest.

Cultural Significance

The Crest is at the head of the Purmua division of the Children of the Tri-Mother. The Crest is also a role model for all people who follow the Children's belief system.

Despite the Children of the Tri-Mother having been created in around 300 B.C.E., the role of the Crest (as well as the Vertex and the Zenith) would not be created until the early 1800's.
