Death Omen
The Death Omen is a traditional Repha'im ritual, calling on the aid of ancestors before wading into battle. This ritual would be undertaken by warriorsled by the Spirit Keeper of the clan when, only used when the stakes are high enough, to cause fear in enemies and conquer fear in one’s self.
Each warrior is questioned as to their willingness to die in order to achieve their goal, and if they answer affirmatively are painted with the blood of the Spirit Keeper.
“Now you may not be killed, for you are already dead. The dead feel no pain. The dead have no fear. You may reclaim your life by completing your quest. Until you do you may not speak with the living for you are not of their world. You are an arrow released from a bow with one target. To stray from your path will destroy you. I have thus vowed as well. We are brothers in this quest. We have died together, and if our ancestors allow, we shall rise again together upon completion of our quest. We have become death.”It is said that in ancient times the ritual would allow warriors to cross over to another plane, perhaps Hammistagān, unable to speak with the living, but able to pass like ghosts into the heart of their enemy's territory, guided by their ancestors who still linger there.
