Mastiff

The Parsan mastiff is the most common dog species known on Alam. They are protectors of Ahura Mazda's creations and were created as companions and guardians for the humanoid races when they were first created into the world. Raised as protectors, hunters, and as warriors, as well as frieght haulers before The Awakening. Mastiffs have gained great esteem in the world. It is said they are produced from the seed of the Gav-e Naer, and have the blood of tigers. It is sometimes said that the noble spirit of the great mastiff cannot be stirred to hunt prey such as deer or foxes, but can and will take down a lion or elephant.
Also, the Haomites tell us that the dog can see into the ethereal realms, and can see invisible meanig such as daeva and peri. This is why they are used in funerary rights to fight the spirits that come for the soul.
