Bracken Castle

Bracken Castle is the largest castle in Ethros that can still be considered a castle. Many cities have been built around castles and have expanded to massive size, but none are still defensible as a single fortress. Bracken was constructed by mages with the intention for it to endure the ages. The earliest brickwork is nearly 2450 years old according to archaeologists. The castle boasts a rich history to match the supposed age. In ages past it has served as the seat of power for empires like the Veldestrian Empire.

Defenses

The castle itself is nearly unassailable except from the inside. The walls are 30 feet tall at their lowest and are reinforced with earthenworks, making sapping impractical. The middle castle is also surrounded with a complex system of ravelins and moats that make a land assault perilous at best. The upper castle and keep are comprised of 90 feet tall and comprised entirely of Smikar's Stone. The design of the castle is largely star shaped and is built from many stout forms, due to the involvment of dwarven architects. Yet the castle can still boast great beauty and elegance derived from the work of elven masons.
