Imperial Intrigue

Korthia is one of the foremost powers in Ethros. Formed after the uprising against the Elves, and the interferrence of the gods, they have quickly dominated the western region. Their emperor is Pelargin IV who if still alive would be nearly 80. Although speculation has surrounded the empire this last decade concerning the disappearance of the emperor. Last seen in public nearly 14 years prior, the emperor suffered a health issue publically and his viziers claim he is resting. Many smallfolk believe that it is really the Grand Vizier, Lord Karwen Andros who is ruling the kingdom. They believe the emperor has already died and the Vizier has merely forestalled the announcement to delay any form of sucession.

History

As a whole, Korthia has been an aggressive state throughout all of its history. Emperor Pelargin IV, the Silvertongued is renown for his peaceful expansion of the empire to 75% of its modern size. Since then it has been the legacy of emperors to conquer more land. There have been 8 emperors since the founding of the present dynasty.

Demographics

The empire is multicultural and is home to many Elves, Dwarves, and a mix of races in the southern region of Blackmarsh. The largest congregation of Dwarves on the continent can be found there, and they are renowned for their construction of war machines. Although military service is restricted primarily humans.
