The Checkered Guard

The Checkered Guard is a unit of guardsmen stationed in the Duchy of Berenia. These guardsmen are some of the finest warriors alive. Their ranks are limited and very exclusive to ensure only the highest quality recruits are able to join. They are responsible for guarding the Duke, his family. In times of war, their numbers have been inflated and they've been stationed on the borders at checkpoints. They are identified because of their red and yellow checkered fabric that covers their steel chestplates. Traditionally they bear halberds, although they undergo intense training with a wide variety of weapons.
