Taliesin

Taliesin Aneiryn, Merlin of Dalriath (a.k.a. Ozan, Talinius Veritas, Hrafnhjold, etc)

Since then I have fled in the shape of a crow,   since then I have fled as a speedy frog,   since then I have fled with rage in my chains,   a roe-buck in a dense thicket.     I have fled in the shape of a raven of prophetic speech,   in the shape of satirising fox,   in the shape of a sure swift,   in the shape of a squirrel vainly hiding.   —Taliesin's Song of His Origins
Legendary bard, whimsical wayfarer, bringer of omens, wise counselor, keeper of the old ways—few indeed are the titles that Taliesin has not borne. From the crags of the Stornfell Isles to the gilded harbors of Agamanthos to the halls of the Uma'aryi Caliphate their feet have tread, and into other places too that have no names in the many tongues of men. Quick are his fingers on the harp, and quicker yet his wit. Many are the songs of his deeds, and yet they tell but half the tale, for despite all their travails, now at last he returns to the land of his kith and kin in their time of need, a harbinger of queer tidings and grave omens.
