Material Characteristics

The characteristics of chitin plate vary based on the arthropod it came from, but generally all chitin plate items are comprised of large, segmented pieces of hard organic material. Usually, individual items will have features adorning them personally the the type of creature the material came from.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Chitin Plate can be used to make medium armour (excluding hide), heavy armour and shields. These items are not considered metallic for the purposes of wearing and using non-metallic items.

History & Usage

History

Chitin Plate has been used by the warriors of The Wild Riders for centuries. It is also common with humanoids from The Underdark. Some adventurous druids have also been known to use the material to protect themselves.

Distribution

Trade & Market

The material is available to be made into armour by the dwarves of Tordelvar (North) and also by certain blacksmiths within The Menagerie Hills. It is generally viewed as uncivilised by most and so is not popular within urban environments.

Varies on the size of the creature the chitin come from: Tiny = 10GP, Small - 100GP, Medium = 500GP, Large - 1,000GP, Huge = 1,500GP. Price of items made with chitin equals 1.5 times the regular value.
