Erathis, the Lawbearer

Goddess of Civilisation and Invention

Description

Erathis is the god of civilisation. She is the inspiration for the founders of cities, authors of law, and defenders of social and cultural advancement. She also holds patronage over invention, making her often the muse for genius creators and innovators. Rulers, judges, and patriotic citizens revere her, as well as great artificers and craftspeople. Her churches can be found in most of Albion's great cities.   Following her tenets, Erathis promotes the concepts of community and order to her followers. She teaches that an individual's efforts can always be made greater through the efforts of larger groups. Additionally, because she opposes the untamed spread of the wild in favour of more habitable land, she asks her followers to seek out these wild places and bring civilisation to them, whether that be a for simple a faming village or a great metropolis. She teaches her followers that settlements are centers of culture and innovation and must be protected to allow the people of Albion to thrive. As such, she expects her followers to defend the civilised lands of the world in her name.

Tenets of The Lawbearer

  • Work with others to achieve your goals. Community and order are always stronger than the disjointed efforts of lone individuals.
  • Tame the wilderness to make it fit for habitation, and defend the light of civilisation against the encroaching darkness.
  • Seek out new ideas, new inventions, new lands to inhabit, new wilderness to conquer. Build machines, build cities, build empires.

Holidays

High Crown

Eradies 14th Seedbloom
This holiday, held in the name of Erathis, the Lawbearer, celebrates the inauguration the first High Ruler after the end of The Confluence and the abdication of the Beaumont family, the original ruling family of Concordia. Each year on this day, a jubilee is held to honour the current High Ruler of Concordia. Typically, this involves street parties across the continent, however Easthaven's streets are completely transformed to celebrate the monarchy. The High Ruler also makes an address during this time, which is magically broadcast to other settlements, and a large festival is held in the capital for the continent's most patriotic city.

History

The Prime Millenia

During Albion's earliest years, as intelligent life began to spring forth across the world, Erathis guided these people towards building communities and eventually forming their first empires. She helped them to cultivate laws to safeguard themselves and inspired them to create their earliest traditions, cementing their cultures within Albion's history.

The Age of Ascension

To Be Confirmed.

The Post-Aspect Era (The Era of Restoration)

With The Aspect Wars concluded, Erathis looked to the future of Albion and what effect the last century would have on its people moving forward. Acknowledging the need for order after decades of chaos, she pushed her followers to rebuild what they could of the ruined civilisations of the world and reestablish both the governments which maintained them as well as the customs and traditions they once held. More recently, she has also sent her followers, alongside the followers of Corellon and Ioun, out to attempt to rediscover as much lost technology and innovation from this time as possible, in an attempt to bring Albion back to the state of order and progress it had once been.
