Firbolg
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
Concordia. Firbolgs on the continents tend to be found in the forested regions, as far from civilisation as possible. Notable firbolg tribes are known to live with The Virescent Canopy, The Heartland Forest and The Vine Mire. When firbolgs do make contact with more civilised area of the continent, they are typically well met, with most people who understand their race knowing them to typically be gentle.
There are two separate types of firbolg which live in Concordia. The first is the standard firbolg which have blueish skin; large, bulbous noses, with a pink hue; long, curled ears, which resemble that of an animal and more neutral-coloured hair. Lesser known canopy firbolg on the other hand resemble humans, except they are taller, stronger, have with tough, pink, fleshy skin and usually have thick, red or blonde hair. It is unsure whether these two distinct groups are related. Some who have studied them believe the name 'firbolg' was intended to be used as a term which encompassed all giant-kin. Others believe the jungle variation to be some form of fey curse, given the lack of their kind anywhere else on the continent. The finally theory other believe (with their similar builds, lifestyles and innate abilities) is that the jungle firbolgs are a product of regional variation with both firbolgs having a single common ancestor yet to be discovered.
Civilization and Culture
History
Firbolgs are an ancient race, which some believe to be almost as old as the elves. They are giant-kin who began their life roaming the primeval jungles which covered most of the world in The First Era. Firbolgs live in small clans and have a tendency to keep to themselves. They have an affinity with nature and learned to live in harmony with the environment around them, never taking anymore than they needed and being sure to cultivate the lands the inhabit so other life may thrive. They posses some innate nature magic, the origin of which is still debated. Some believe it to come from prolonged exposure to the forest over generations, while other believe fibolgs to originate for The Feywild and their magic coming from there also.
