Ecology and Habitats

Concordia. While genasi did exist on the continent before The Confluence, it was shortly after this time when their numbers grew to what they are today. This was due to the introduction of the Djinn to the continent and the offspring they created. Since then, they have become a large part of the demographic of the continent, however the public view of genasi is not that of admiration or trust. They are viewed by many as a living reminder of the catastrophic past the continent endured and are treated with contempt as a result. Genasi born into noble families are typically sequestered away to a distant relative or disowned completely and left to fend for themselves, whilst those who come from working class backgrounds struggle more than any do dig their way out of poverty.   The different sub-races of genasi have adapted to this prejudice differently. Earth genasi tend to shrug off any trouble which comes their way with relative ease, being the most emotionally stable of the four, and situate themselves prominently in society as a peaceful protest to their treatment. Water genasi do their best to avoid trouble where they can, keeping quiet, travelling and avoiding those who would seek to harm them. Air genasi tend to remove themselves from the situation entirely, avoiding civilisation as best they can by living in small communities of their own kind. Fire genasi, on the other hand, tend not to take to the prejudice of others too kindly and are known to act out more than their kin. In the early years of the first generation of their race, many fire genasi decided to relocated to the city of Auchendow and it’s surroundings where their innate resistance to the heat made it an ideal home away from the judgement of those who would seek to discriminate against them.

Civilization and Culture

History

The genasi have existed for as long as powerful mages have been able to pull powerful elemental magic and elemental beings into the material plane. This has lead to people referring to them (along with other races which manifest in this way) as 'plane-touched'. It is believed the first genasi came to the world during the Age of Ascension. Their various elemental heritages are assumed to affect their personalities, with fire genasi stereotypically considered hot-headed and earth genasi stereotypically more calm and stoic, though this is not the case for all individuals.
