Ardentum

High Elven city of mages and magic.
The city of "Ardentum" is a magocratic stratocracy where it is a requirement for government officials to have studied the arcane arts of wizardry. With the majority of the population being high elves, control of magic is tightly tied to social standing. However arcane magics that are not the result of personal study are considered crass and the use of divine magic is strictly outlawed. For the longest time the city has been isolationist, only interacting with the outside world to strike at potential rivals, either directly or via subterfuge. However the newest High Mage, Nala Arca 'the Phoenix', has taken the controversial decision to open up the city and begin a trade of magical artefacts to the rest of the world. As the trickle of magical goods leaves, so to do new ideas trickle in; what effects this will have upon the city and it's people is anyone's guess. But two words seem to be on everyone's lips; Opportunity and Danger.
