Gallowbloom
The secondary flower of Lychnis, these flowers naturally grow in what is colloquially known as “dead soil,” and is typically found near funeral mounds and tombs.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Gallowblooms are are mostly short-lived perennial plants, though some variations grow annually. The simple leaves are usually lance-shaped. The flowers are tubular, bilaterally symmetrical, and usually large with a closed liplike mouth that excludes most insects but can be forced open by strong bees, the main pollinators. When dried, the flowers famously resemble human skulls. They traditionally bear bone white flowers on red-black leaves, but other variations found in the Uncanny Valley include lavender, black, bloodbloom, and winter bláth chroiche.
Compounds
A major component in the Beastwane formula recently derived by Vermilia of the Uncanny Valley, dried gallowbloom has proven to alleviate feelings of fear and anxiety.
Origin & Source
Other names for the bloom include bláth chroiche, a term used exclusively by the Uncanny.

Gallowbloom was discovered in the Pre-Apostasy era of Albion by magical naturalist Italica of Itsasne, who noted that it commonly grew at the sites of major battles, particularly those in which the use of magic is deployed.
Everyday use
When chewed or steeped in its dried form, gallowflower is used to treat and alleviate feelings of fear and anxiety. It is also used in poultices to stem the flow of blood from magical wounds which would otherwise prove fatal. Gallowbloom is safe to ingest for most sapient creatures on record.
