The Empty Throne
History
Following the disappearance of King Arthur on the Isle of Avalon, the King's Throne sat empty for 1 year and 1 day in anticipation of Arthur's miraculous return before Guinevere ascended to ruling sovereignty as the laws of succession dictated. Partially responsible for Guinevere's moniker, "The Eternal Widow," the Throne has sat empty beside her since the day Camelot came under her rule. It is present at every event of state and anytime Guinevere travels as a royal guest, and it is always empty. Fingerprints are visible in the quarter-inch of dust that has worked its way into the fine filigree of the throne's frame, but those remain the only marks of use.
