This proficiency includes the knowledge and understanding of politics within the state and in the state’s dealings with other states. It also encompasses the diplomatic skills needed to analyze, guide, and influence people and events to achieve government and personal ends. A character with this proficiency knows and understands the significance of current events and the major personalities that shape them. He is knowledgeable about the cultures and ambitions of foreign allies and enemies. He also understands the conflicts between prominent counts, churchmen, and royal officers, and he studies the will and whim of the king.
