This is known in ShaoYan as the ‘unnerve at the outset’ kata. The intention is to win the fight by ‘psyching’ out the opponent - making them too fearful to effectively defend against the martial artist.

The martial artist chooses 1 opponent. During the martial artist's combat round they maymove only 1 square toward that opponent and may take no other actions. At the end of the round, opposing Charisma checks are made. If the martial artist wins the opposing check, the selected oppoenent has a -4 "to hit" and an AC penalty of 4 for the remainder of the combat.

Lastly, the martial artist has a +3 to their Charisma when interacting with this opponent for the foreseable future.
