Brim Obelisk
Tomb of Best
The Brim Obelisk is an ancient weathered standing stone ten feet tall, atop a stone foundation. The obelisk is situated nine miles north of the Ireskanest Sea coastline in south central Novyum.
This obelisk has been given many names over the ages and been in the records of history since the first civilization grow up around the sea. Sometimes used as a religious site, others as nothing more than a convenient landmark, the obelisk has been claimed by many. For every civilization that has risen and fallen in Novyum through the eras, there are just as many legends about the Brim Obelisk to go with him. It has fallen many times over the ages but has always been set back up after.
For all the legends about the origins of the obelisk, the most widely accepted is that it marks the tomb of a semi-mythical hero of the prehistoric periods. This is somewhat contradicted by the Stonefoot Carvings, which some believe is the oldest known record of the obelisk. The Carvings claim it as a monument built by the ancient Dumid people at the heart of their settlement when coming out of the frozen Cutting Mountains. The Carvings record that the pillar was a holy site for the people. Later works will claim it as the tomb of their first leader, Best, though, no bodies, bones, or otherwise have been found at the site.
