Elvish Common
Seva Dai (DEV ah die)
Known to most non-elven people as simply Elvish, Seva Dai is the common (and simplified) language used by the Elf. One of two "common" tongues of the people. The native languages of the elves are extremely complicated, with literally hundreds of thousands of words in each of their various dialects. A long lived highly intelligent people with the luxury to learn the nuance of vocal range and sound, they have created a vast library of subtlety differences in words and meanings. Seva Dai is a simplified dialect that can be taught to the other races of Aldern to aid in communication and trade. The language has been carefully unchanged by the elves over the centuries to make sure other races will always have a language they can learn to communicate with the elven people.
However, it should be noted, that elves will never use Seva Dai when speaking to one anther within their communities.
