Sidrus Ejafi

Keeper Sidrus Ejafi

Sidrus Ejafi (22 Srascuamir, 1865 SE - 23 Siamir, 18 KE) was a notable Eryndari mage and a seminal figure in the history of Eryndor, revered for his role as the inaugural Keeper in the Conclave of the Keepers. Born in Arvandor, the capital city of the Kingdom of Eryndor, Sidrus was orphaned at a young age and displayed an early proclivity for magic. His most significant contribution was the discovery of the Locus of Knowledge in 1883 SE, which transformed his own understanding of magic and led to the formation of the Conclave of the Keepers. Despite personal struggles with mental health, Sidrus' commitment to the responsible use and advancement of magic has left an enduring legacy within the magical community.

Early Life

Sidrus Ejafi was born on 22 Srascuamir, 1865 SE, in Arvandor, the capital of the Kingdom of Eryndor. His parents, distinguished performers with their own latent magical abilities, were known across the region for their compelling magic performances. In a tragic accident that occurred while he was still an infant, they both lost their lives while attempting to create a novel magical sequence designed to push the limits of their craft. They unwittingly accessed a form of ancient and powerful magic, causing a catastrophic resonance which led to their untimely deaths.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding their deaths spurred speculation, with rumors ranging from violent robbery to tales of a tragic murder-suicide. However, the exact details remained elusive until years later when Sidrus, having honed his own magical abilities, was able to investigate the incident using advanced arcane techniques.

Growing up as an orphan, Sidrus cultivated his inherent magical capabilities by turning to the tranquility and mystery of nature. His remarkable ability to understand and manipulate natural forces led him to be recognized as a prodigy in the realm of magical arts, even in a period where there was no formal educational structure for mages. These formative years of self-taught study and exploration laid the groundwork for Sidrus's later influence on the course of magic in Eryndor.

Discovery of the Locus of Knowledge

In 1883 SE, Sidrus found the Locus of Knowledge. This place offered deep enlightenment and improved one's control over time. The experience changed Sidrus's understanding of magic, leading him to see it as a potent tool. Motivated, he committed to serious study and practice, strengthening his magical skills.

Conclave of the Keepers

After the Order of the Arcane was disbanded, the practice of magic became sporadic and was largely used for novelty or entertainment purposes. This landscape shifted after Sidrus discovered the Locus of Knowledge. Understanding the significant potential of magic beyond trivial uses, he endeavored to gather Eryndari magic practitioners into an organized entity. This initiative culminated in 1922 SE, with the convening of the Meeting of the Mages in Arvandor, a significant event attended by numerous notable magic users of the time.

Months of comprehensive discussions resulted in The Arcane Accord, a foundational document that established the Conclave of the Keepers. Sidrus was named the first Keeper of this new assembly. Under Sidrus's guidance, the Conclave sought to uphold standards for the application of magic and to promote its academic study and development.

Mental Health

Throughout his life, Sidrus dealt with various mental health issues, including social anxiety and depression. The discovery of the truth behind his parents' deaths had a significant impact on his psychological state. This information added a new layer of complexity to his understanding and practice of magic, as he grappled with the knowledge that it killed his parents. Despite these challenges, Sidrus continued his work and studies in the arcane arts, using his personal experiences as fuel for his commitment to the responsible use and development of magic.

Death

Sidrus Ejafi died on the 23rd of Siamir, 18 KE, at the age of 73, succumbing to congestive heart failure. The months preceding his death saw a marked change in his engagement with the Conclave of the Keepers and his public presence. In the early stages of his illness, Sidrus began to withdraw from routine Conclave activities. He was increasingly absent from meetings and public appearances, sparking concern among his peers and the wider community.

His communication with the Conclave and the public became less frequent as his health further declined. Despite rumors about his health condition, the full extent of his illness was not disclosed until after his death. The final two weeks of his life were spent in quiet solitude, with only his closest confidants aware of his critical condition. His death was officially announced by the Conclave on the 24th of Siamir, and it was met with wide-scale mourning across Eryndor.

Legacy

Sidrus Ejafi is celebrated for his courage, endurance, and dedication to learning. Despite his struggles, he emerged as a leader, bringing together a fragmented magical community. The Conclave of the Keepers, his enduring legacy, still unifies mages. Sidrus's life, accomplishments, and devotion to the pursuit of knowledge continue to inspire many generations of magic users in Eryndor, leaving a significant mark in Aldor's history.
