The Endless Depths
This term refers to the apparently infinite ocean that extends beneath the known world. It was first attested to by sailors who claimed to have glimpsed faint points of glittering light far beneath the waves while on voyages far from any known shore. It is believed that these may be the suns of other worlds, each presumable attended by its own atmosphere, cloud bank, and tectonic formations.
It is unknown how far beneath the ocean's surface one would have to submerge before passing beyond the nether limits of our own continents, nor exactly how far from shore one would have to sail to circumnavigate them during such a descent.
It should be noted that there are sceptics among the learned of Gnossos, who deride such tales as fanciful nonsense dreamt up by the madness of the Unravelling. However, the theory has been included here in pursuit of the Scholarly Virtue of Diligence.
