The Sovereigns—the indifferent gods of this world—pursue their own interests selfishly, leaving mortals to worship Heroes, finding power in their legends and myths. 3. Athcana is a solitary realm surrounded by monstrous civilizations. One wrong move could bring death, or worse. 4. In Athcana, race is in flux. Through science, magic, or faith, a person can transform their very being. 5. Five factions fight for the soul of Athcana. Adventures can’t take two steps without getting caught in the web of their intrigues. 6. The more power one harnesses, the less "Human" they become until they are nothing but Forces of Nature fulfilling their desires.
