Fiends

Fiends are identified as the common denizens of the Hells Below and its neighboring realms of the Abyss and other places. The three most common types found in existence are the cunning and intellectual Devils, the wild and instinctual Demons, and the mercenary and all-consuming Daemons.

Basic Information

Anatomy

All fiends are actually formed from the souls of mortals, either created by bulk or by shards that grow into their own form. The soul's nature and the growth it goes through is what decides what kind of fiend it is, save for the Daemons, who exist despite the soul and actually exist to consume the energy that souls provide.
  • Devils: Devils are fiends formed from souls who have let cunning, manipulation, and diligence rule their lives. As such, devils are manipulative, distinctly keen to plot and serve in the hierarchy led by Asmodeus. They tend to reside primarily within the Nine Lairs of Hells, a large continent-like landmass filled with different biomes leading from the Black Coasts of Avernus to the Infernal City of Baator.
  • Demons: Demons are fiends formed from souls who have let their instincts, impulses, and urges guide them through their lives. As such, demons are wild and instinctual, functioning like wild animals in their most basic forms before growing more intellectual as they grow older or more powerful. They are commonly found within the Wilds of the Abyss, a sprawling untamed world formed of fiendish wilderness and natural formations.
  • Daemons: Daemons are a servitor race created by Tharizdun during the First Consumption. His release saw his allowance to create his own race, made to devour souls and destroy anything and everything they come across. With their creator locked away, Daemons now exist as a mercenary, unique race who do whatever they wish to so long as they collect and consume souls. This lets them work for or against both demons and devils, but those two, as well as celestials, often avoid them or actively decimate them on sight.
