Lowfolk

Lowfolk, otherwise commonly known as halflings and gnomes, are creatures on the realm of Aldris born from the Archfey as a servitor race when they first arrived. Being born from the natural world being given sentience, the low-folk have been stuck in the light of service under Elves and other races for years, only recently managing to break away and form their own individual culture.

The Lowfolk have traditional humanoid bodies but stand much shorter than other races.

Genetics and Reproduction

Lowfolk reproduce sexually.

Growth Rate & Stages

While the Lowfolk covers a wide variety of races, the main two subtypes are listed as follows:

• Halflings: Halflings were born of a subsect of Astarta that existed within the realm of Aldris on the surface, whereas the Astarta who delved deep into the underground become the Dwarves. Halflings dealt with their essence slowly being sapped by the innately devouring power of Tharizdun, even if they were not actively eaten by him or his daemon servitors. Once the Dawn War ended and the sapping mists were banished from the realm, the Halflings were forever cursed with shorter stature and lesser strength down to their bones, but still adapted to survive just as they did during those dark times.
• Gnomes: Gnomes were the first of the Lowfolk, being made by the Archfey giving life and sentience to the nature around them. Their origin makes them have different evolutionary attributes, such as Rock Gnomes being born of stone and Forest Gnomes from trees. They were originally made to serve the Fey and be loved by them, but this relationship was slowly twisted and remolded by the Elves when they became the newly favored and loyal children of the fey.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Most lowfolk keep to the hills and mountains as per their normal regions, due to lacking the adaptive evolutionary abilities of the Elves and other races.
