Before the Fallout: The World of Petty Squables

Political Landscape

Before its catastrophic downfall, Alealamia stood as a majestic world where thriving nature harmonized with advanced technology. Governed by six distinct Superpowers, these nations initially coexisted in peaceful cooperation. As the nations thrived, their collaboration eventually devolved into tensions, leading to a catastrophic war that reshaped the face of Alealamia, leaving behind only remnants of life and a hope for eventual rebirth.

Geography

Before its fall, Alealamia was a breathtaking realm, adorned with picturesque white sand deserts, vibrant rainforests, majestic mountain ranges, and tranquil icy blue oceans. It stood as a veritable paradise, where sprawling cities seamlessly coexisted with the natural splendor enveloping them.

Ecosystem

The planet's surface boasted grand, technologically advanced cities, divided among six powerful world factions. Despite their differences, one common thread united them: a profound respect for nature, albeit to varying extents. Consequently, the planet's delicate ecosystems remained a priority, regardless of the nations' progress or expansion. While all nations held nature in reverence, some integrated it seamlessly into their urban landscapes, incorporating natural elements within their grand structures, while others maintained a distinct boundary between humanity and the natural world. Regardless of the approach, Alealamians were steadfast stewards of their ecosystems, diligently safeguarding the environments they inhabited.

Ecosystem Cycles

Alealamia was graced with diverse natural seasonal shifts, each nation experiencing the changing seasons in unique ways dictated by its geographical location.

Fauna & Flora

As devoted custodians of the natural realm, the Alealamians held a profound regard for all forms of plant and animal life. Any species that had faced extinction during the rise of Alealamian dominance had been reintroduced through advanced cloning and genetic technologies. However, this practice had unintended consequences, leading to ethically questionable experimentation in genetic recombination between humans, animals, and plants. Genetic modification became increasingly widespread among the Alealamians, particularly prevalent within the armed forces and law enforcement agencies of various nations.

Natural Resources

With its abundant and flourishing natural biodiversity, Alealamia boasted a wealth of natural resources. The advent of recombinant technologies, capable of breaking down and recombining atomic structures, empowered the Alealamians to create from waste materials rather than solely relying on planetary resources. While some resources are still utilized, particularly by artisans and the privileged few, none of the nations are entirely dependent on them for prosperity. Consequently, the global economy was not tethered to resource trade as its primary foundation.

History

Alealamia mirrors our own world in many aspects, its history unfolding in parallel until the onset of the Alelamian industrial revolution. Unlike Earth, the ancient religions of Alealamia held nature in profound reverence. Thus, the detrimental effects of fossil fuels and carbon emissions on their newly industrialized society were recognized early on. Consequently, concerted efforts were made to replace these destructive energy sources and mitigate environmental damage. By the advent of their technological era, Alealamians had transitioned exclusively to environmentally sustainable forms of power and fuel. This commitment to ecological harmony not only propelled their technological advancement far beyond our own but also fostered diverse experimentation and innovative solutions to scientific challenges. The once-diverse nations of Alealamia gradually coalesced into six dominant powers, each marked by distinct political ideologies and varying levels of technological prowess, all far surpassing Earth's current capabilities. During the initial stages of technological progress, Alelamian scientists made a groundbreaking discovery: rifts, tiny fissures in space-time through which energies from other realms bled into theirs. Dubbed Chrono Energy, these rifts were observed to capture the temporal essence of passing events, serving as natural "waste bins" for historical moments. While the destination of these rifts remained a mystery, it was hypothesized that they led to a parallel reality akin to their own. Despite their potential, Chrono Energy remained untapped due to its unstable and chaotic nature.   As the six superpowers of Alealamia solidified their dominance, they centered their growth and development around the discovered rifts, each nation possessing its own. Experimentation with these rifts varied among the powers, leading to divergent paths of progress and occasional conflicts. Disagreements over how to study and exploit the rifts gradually strained the once-harmonious relations between the nations, ushering in an era of uneasy peace reminiscent of a protracted "Cold War." Fragile alliances, trade agreements, and treaties precariously upheld the balance of power in Alealamian politics.   However, escalating tensions and the accumulation of nuclear arsenals eventually ruptured this delicate equilibrium, plunging Alealamia into a catastrophic global conflict. Despite the specter of mutually assured destruction, war erupted, ravaging the continents and leaving only remnants of flora, fauna, and humanity in its wake. The abrupt end brought Alealamia to a standstill, with time now slowly ticking toward eventual rebirth and regeneration amidst the desolation.
