Bubble Berries

Meltwater Loch is home to a variety of flora and fauna, both above and under water, amongst which can be found Bubble berries. These berries are rather unique as they can only be found underwater, and only in freshwater lakes or lochs. Growing on delicate vines, their pearlescent sheen and variety of sizes gives the appearance of a thin stream of bubbles rising from the loch-bed. They contain an amount of arcane energy, rendering them a useful reagent for Healers, and a favourite food of the Wigfish.

Little Bubbles of Happiness

Bubble berries have been discovered to influence a persons mood in a positive way. There are a number of ways to prepare or use them, each with varying levels of effectiveness. Since they grow underwater, witches have found that they are most potent when popped within liquid - whether in a potion, or a cup of tea. When the berries are burst, their pearlescent skins break into tiny fragments, giving the appearance of tiny explosions of glitter. This makes popping them all the more enjoyable, but it is the juice of the berry that holds the true power to improve ones mood.
It is best to use as fresh berries as possible for the strongest effects. For a quick release, they can be consumed without anything in addition, and with no modification, however their flavour is not the most pleasant so it is generally recommended to take them with something else. The best way to take them is in a sweet drink, bursting them moments before drinking so as to get the full benefit of the juice within. Taking too many of the berries at the same time can cause extreme euphoria that ends with fatigue and low mood, therefore people are warned to take only a few at a time when necessary.
