Mocvara

Basic Information

Anatomy

Mocvara are humanoid bipedals. They generally have pale eyes tending toward cool colors or medium orange eyes; there is one family line with black eyes. Their hair is usually varied shades of green, brown, and black.
Mocvara have fins on the backs of their legs, arms, and back, as well as webbed fingers and gills in their necks. Their ears quickly taper to a point at the top. Saltwater is damaging to their gills, fins, and internal organs.

Genetics and Reproduction

Rate

Most Mocvara want to have as many children as possible (a max of twenty). Triplets are common, and single children are rare.

Method

Children are liveborn, birthed in cocoons of a watery/rubbery substance, which they remain in for anywhere from two hours to two weeks before “hatching.”

Pregnancy length

Pregnancies generally last about six months, after which the children are born in the cocoons mentioned above and remain therein for anywhere from two hours to two weeks before the cocoon ruptures and they’re officially birthed.

Ecology and Habitats

They tend toward swamps, but lakes are tolerable. Only freshwater areas; saltwater is damaging to their gills, fins, and internal organs.

Common Myths and Legends

The Mocvara are highly superstitious, and while the majority of them don’t really know what they believe, they do believe that the gods are dangerous when they’re angry, so they attempt to appease all of them. They have their own gods, passed down through the generations, as well as the gods that Zidor and Katar worship, and they attempt to serve Athair, as well.
They have three primary gods: Vodu, Tlo, and Zrak. These are gods of water, earth, and air, respectively. They believe - those who believe in them staunchly - that these three created the whole world and are extremely volatile when angry, able to wipe them out with a snap of their fingers. They serve these three with probably the most fear.
They see Athair as the most merciful god, and serve him with something akin to love, but for the most part they don’t really understand him. While they serve the other gods with fear, they take some joy in serving Athair.

Mocvara are almost always well-toned, since they spend their lives swimming.

Their skin is generally dark but muted greens, blues, purples, all of which are tinted brown.
